Special Equipment
One large pot
Colander or strainer
Tongs
Knife/ Cutting Board
Ingredients
1 PoundFresh Green beans ends trimmed off
3-4Tbsp. Extra Virgin Olive oil
To TasteSalt & pepper and/or garlic salt
Instructions
On the stove top, bring a pot of water up to a boil. Meanwhile prepare the green beans by cutting either end off.
Boil the green beans for about 8-10 minutes depending how “al dente” or crunchy you like them. Test one and add 2-3 more minutes if needed.
Immediately strain the green beans in a colander and flush with cold tap water, tossing the green beans so they cool down.
This is called “shocking” the green beans and help the green beans to stay a nice bright green color. If you’re not concerned with the color you could skip rinsing them.
Place green beans in a bowl and season with a little salt, pepper, and olive oil. Toss until they are coated.
Taste a green bean and add more seasoning if needed.
Enjoy right away or store in the fridge for up to a week.
